Today, the Showers Pass Elite 3 jacket arrived, along with the Gen 3 hood (and the rain shoe covers). The jacket is everything I hoped it would be, and more! Very well-made and neatly finished, with great attention to detail. Folded up, it makes a neat little package; not the absolute smallest, but certainly not too big either. It just exudes durability and quality.
I am slim and 1.98 m tall (6'6") and opted for size XL. That turned out to be a total bullseye. For actual racing, this jacket would be a bit too loose, but for "regular" cycling and touring/long distances, it is perfect. You can easily wear a warm layer underneath without it feeling baggy when you don't. The length at both the front and back is spot on. I read a comment somewhere from another user saying that the sleeves are very long; they are indeed generous in length, but I actually consider that a huge advantage rather than an exaggeration.
The adjustability options are almost endless: at the bottom, the jacket can be tightened and sealed with an elastic cord, as well as at the top and around the hood. I chose the largest hood option. Indeed, a bike helmet fits underneath easily. But so does my beloved brimmed hat, which keeps my glasses dry. Thanks to the adjustment options, it can also be adapted when you're not wearing anything on your head except the hood.
This brings me to the point where this jacket truly shines—and as far as I know, has no equal on the market: its physical ventilation capabilities! The vent on the back is much larger than I expected and is lined with mesh on the inside. Any wind entering the front of the jacket can flow freely through to the back and out again. The ventilation zippers on the front sides, combined with the ability to leave the main zipper mostly open (thanks to the strap with the snap button), make the "cooperation" with the back vent complete. The sleeve openings are also generous, allowing air to enter easily, but they can also be cinched tightly around the wrists if desired.
Regarding Showers Pass UK's service: I live in Spain, and Spanish customs caused some delays and confusion. However, Emma from Showers Pass stayed closely involved and was very responsive. Thanks to Showers Pass's support, I felt completely covered, regardless of the outcome with Spanish customs. I am very impressed with their flawless service.
